Innovation policy

Innovation: expertise, experience, strategic driver

Innovation is central to the group's strategy bringing consumers the world over original concepts, disruptive products, new uses and more and more solutions. The result: true consumer benefits, perceived and concrete, and improved quality of life, for example, a better diet or a quieter environment.

Product momentum is the main growth driver in the small household equipment sector. That momentum is driven by the strength of the Group's innovations, which create value and give it a lead over the competition.

A world leader in small domestic equipment, we are enhancing our product range by creating new solutions for the everyday life of the future.

Every year, one-third of growth is driven by new products .

The Group also works to continuously enliven and enhance its core range (through functionalities, design and pricing), a true spearhead ensuring the agility needed to develop our innovation policy and accounting for the largest part of our sales volumes by reaching a considerable number of consumers.

It is also a key component in differentiation and the fight against the trivialization of the market. It stands as a crucial growth resource both in mature and emerging countries, one that enables the Group to continue developing while retaining a competitive edge over its competitors.

But looking beyond products, innovation applies to all levels of the company, from industrial processes and management tools to marketing resources and methods. The unwavering objective is to implement the best practices to be the top-performing player.

In 2017, Groupe SEB founded a World Innovation Hub for small electrical appliances (SEA) in Ecully. The aim is to group players in the SEA innovation chain at the same site with a view to stepping up Group development and the launch of new products. Some 230 employees from the Marketing and Research teams are now together at the Groupe SEB Head Office.

The project ties in with the new organization structure started in 2015 with, among others, the creation of the Products and Innovation Division.
