To reduce the greenhouse gas emissions related to our manufacturing, we implemented a global environment management system back in 2003. Our approach has produced results, with 94% of our sites gradually obtaining ISO 14001 certification.
Energy thus forms one of the “building blocks” of the Plant of the Future project launched in 2016 by Groupe SEB. A cross-functional working group is exploring the introduction of neutral or positive energy solutions with a dual, economic and environmental objective. Green energy production experiments are under way, with solar panels to be installed at Campus SEB in Ecully in first-half 2018, and further projects are under review, notably in South America.
Several sites have distinguished themselves through proactive and ambitious policies on energy management, particularly Erbarch in Germany and Rumilly and Tournus in France. On the strength of these policies, the three sites obtained ISO 50001 energy management certification in 2016. WMF’s four sites in Germany are also ISO 50001 certified. Again in the field of energy, Supor’s Yuhuan site in China has been leading an ambitious action plan since 2012, achieving a 35% reduction in energy consumption per unit produced between 2013 and 2017.
